1. Our approach

Salin is built to help with language, not to create a profile about you. We aim to collect only what is needed to provide and improve the features you choose to use.

2. Translation requests

Text or speech you submit for an online translation may be sent securely to the services that prepare your result. Please do not enter passwords, payment details, government identification numbers, medical records, private documents, or other sensitive information.

3. Speech features

Tap to Speak uses speech recognition available on your phone or an online fallback when supported. Your phone may ask for microphone permission. Salin only listens after you choose a speech feature and grant permission.

4. Talk to Stranger

Talk to Stranger is optional and requires separate consent. Messages are temporary and are intended to be removed when a room closes. Do not use it to exchange private identities, contact details, credentials, threats, harmful material, or illegal content.

5. Optional language learning

If you agree to conversation learning, Salin may identify short, de-identified word or phrase candidates after safety filtering. Raw conversations are not added to the translation dictionary. Candidates stay unapproved until they are reviewed for meaning, language, region, and appropriate use.

6. Saved items on your device

Favorites, preferences, accepted terms, and selected offline information may be stored on your device so the app can remember your choices. Removing the app may remove this local information.

7. Basic service information

Our hosting and service providers may process basic technical information needed for security and reliability, such as request times, general device or connection details, and error information. We do not use Salin to sell personal information.

8. Retention and protection

We keep service information only as long as reasonably needed for its purpose, safety, or legal obligations. We use access controls, secure connections, and limited server permissions, but no online service can promise absolute security.

9. Children

Children should use Salin with guidance from a parent or guardian. Talk to Stranger should not be used by anyone who cannot safely understand the risks of speaking with an unknown person online.

10. Your choices

You can decline optional permissions, avoid Talk to Stranger, decline conversation learning, remove locally saved items, or uninstall Salin. Some features may not work without the permission or connection they need.

11. Updates

We may update this policy as Salin changes. Important changes may be shown in the app or on this website.
